Legion: 10 Reasons It's The Best Superhero TV Show Of All Time
3. ...And The Drama More Than Takes Care Of The Rest
Whereas the comedy and humor are good fun, the real meat of Legion lies within its action and drama.
There are many words that one could use to describe the narrative of Legion, but the one that stands out from all the rest is "riveting." Legion doesn't rely on its visuals, its jokes to move itself along. Rather, it does that through the power of compelling storytelling. What makes the characters so compelling, especially, is that unlike other shows which typically only focus on one particular subset issues in regards to personal struggles, Legion is something of a mixed bag.
In addition to it being arguably the best story of a mutant coming to terms with his power ever put on screen, if you've ever struggled with mental health, David's story will likely speak to you. And all of the other characters have their own demons to exercise and stories to tell that countless people will identify with.
Not to mention the fact that the action Legion brings to the table is utterly marvelous, especially when combined with the show's phenomenal visuals and effects. The climax of Chapter 1 is beautiful chaos, with the fight between mutant and man on full display in one, breathtaking shot. The battle of the lighthouse in Chapter 4, meanwhile, is a violent and emotional work of art that reaches teeth-gritting levels of tension.
Not only are all of these respective elements gripping, but they mesh together seamlessly. And again, nothing feels forced, as it is all contributing to one, big overarching narrative that's unlike anything you've seen before.
