Lucifer: 10 Most Heartbreaking Moments From The Series

4. Father Lawrence's Death

We're going way back in the show's history for this one.

The Lucifer we see in season one is significantly different than the one we see by the end of the series. However, there are kernels of the man, or Devil, he would become present as early as the first season, such his relationship with the priest Father Lawrence.

In the season one's "A Priest Walks Into A Bar" Father Lawrence comes to Lucifer asking for help in ridding his community of drugs, and in the process getting a kid he cares about, Connor, out of a life of crime. Lucifer proudly refuses, basically figuring that in some way by sticking it to a priest that he's sticking it to his father. The two eventually bond though after a beautiful piano duet, with Lawrence gaining not only Lucifer's trust, but his admiration.

At the end of the episode Lawrence is shot and killed taking a bullet for Connor, sending Lucifer into a blind rage where in which he almost chokes the man responsible to death. Rarely in the series do we see Lucifer this broken. When he cries out to God asking what's the point in anything if even someone like Lawrence, someone who played by the rules and dedicated their life to good, will still lose in the end you can't help but ask yourself the same question.
