5. Bushmaster's Horrifying Origin Story (Episode 11, "The Creator")

Almost as horrifying as the Rum Punch Massacre is the flashback to Bushmaster's early life in mid-1980s Kingston, Jamaica. Following Bushmaster's father Quincy and Mariah's father Buggy killing each other, the families meet there to discuss terms on splitting the proceeds of the Bushmaster rum and the Harlem’s Paradise club.

Things get ugly, though, and Mabel Stokes (LaTanya Richardson Jackson) ends up torching the McIver home, killing Bushmaster's mother Gwen in the process and ensuring the McIvers receive no residuals for the shared enterprises.

That's not even the end of the terror, though, as two years later Pistol Pete attempts to murder Bushmaster by shooting him, but thanks to some Nightshade administered by a bush woman, he's barely able to survive.

This is masterfully intercut with Bushmaster's current attempt to survive his explosive escape from police custody, and helps inject some much-needed nuance into his characterisation.
