Marvel's Luke Cage Reviews: 10 Early Reactions You Need To Know

6. The Action Is Different, But In A Good Way

Luke Cage Reviews 2
Netflix

"Luke Cage lacks the eye-popping martial arts choreography of Daredevil." - Den of Geek

And that's not exactly a surprise. From the trailers it already appeared that while Cage would be a similarly action-filled show as its Netflix counterparts, the hero's particular powers - unbreakable skin and super strength - would mean that the fight scenes looked rather different. One example was a clip of a hallway fight scene, which seems an intrinsic part of these shows now, but instead of Matt Murdock's flips and kicks it was sheer brute force. And that's not a one-off:

"The camera shows exactly what happens when a big thug winds up and tries to nail Luke in the face with a punch. It’s not pretty. The action scenes do a splendid job highlighting Cage’s strength. In short, with bulletproof skin, he’s pretty much a one-man army, with no weapons needed." - 411 Mania
"The fight choreography in Luke Cage does a great job of making you believe that this is how a man with bulletproof skin would fight. Luke isn’t choreographed or careful; he doesn’t need to be. He plows through walls and nonchalantly swats away thugs like dirt off his shoulder." - io9
