Marvel Cinematic Universe: Ranking Every Upcoming TV Show By Anticipation
5. Cloak And Dagger
Release Date: 2018
This past April, it was announced that the duo of Tyrone "Cloak" Johnson and Tandy "Dagger" Bowen would be making their way to the former ABC Family channel, Freeform. In contrast to the shows that have filled out the MCU so far, the new series will instead skew towards a younger demographic, the complicated love story between the two teenagers set to be overseen by former Heroes writer and Marvel Comics vet Joe Pokaski.
For us adults, it's easy to knock on the fact that the show will be on Freeform, but part of the charm of the MCU has been its ever-expanding ability to tell stories appealing to different people across film and TV, and Cloak and Dagger is no exception. If it can respect the source material in its effort to appeal towards a younger generation, and so long as it's a quality show, hopefully those among us who would not otherwise give it a chance can look past its superficial trappings to appreciate that Marvel is truly taking strides to have something for everybody, even if it doesn't directly appeal to you.
The two characters are unique enough to deserve their own story, and like The Inhumans making its debut on IMAX or Runaways spreading the MCU out to Hulu, Cloak and Dagger's launch on Freeform shows that Marvel isn't afraid to try new things, and neither should we be afraid to give them the benefit of the doubt.
