Marvel's Daredevil: 18 Problems With Season 2

5. Matt Was Willing To Throw It All Away

Daredevil Matt Elektra
Netflix

Nearing the end of the season, Matt Murdock has finally come to the conclusion that he is in way over his head and that both he and Elektra are up against insurmountable odds in the form of an ancient, organised crime syndicate full of ninjas. The war between the Hand and the Chaste is both ancient and everlasting and now they have become deeply entrenched in this battle for supremacy.

In an obvious fake out. Matt tells Elektra that they’ll run away together. Forgot the Hand, the Chaste, Stick, Hell’s Kitchen, all of it… Just go off into the sunset and make awesome looking babies on a beach in the Bahamas.

After a season of witnessing Matt Murdock travel through every circle of hell to protect his unkempt kitchen, hearing these words come out of his mouth just seem a little shoehorned. He later told Stick he basically loved her, but wouldn't admit it, but come on.

I mean, I’m not blind and even I can see why running away with a woman who looks like that seems like the best idea ever. However, I’m also not a hero sworn to protect a city with bloody knuckles each and every night due to my overwhelming sense of duty. I just kick dogs cause it’s easier.
