The introduction of Jessica and Luke's relationship mirrors what happens in the comics. On the page, the pair end up getting married after their individual haunted pasts converge. They also have a child. There are a couple of nods to their future kids in the show: at one point Roy the bartender taunts Jessica when she comes back to find and apologise to Luke by saying "I get it, you love him, you want to have his babies..." Elsewhere, Jessica also makes a joke about "breeders" getting in her way. Ironically, in the comics she becomes entirely motherly, fleeing the events of Civil War with their child as Luke goes underground.
