Marvel's The Gifted: 7 Reasons To Be Excited
2. The Cast Is Full Of Genre Veterans
Professor X called his most reliable, experienced players whenever he sought to accomplish a difficult task. Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel TV were no different when the casting call went out for The Gifted.
True Blood's Stephen Moyer and Angel's Amy Acker portray the parents in the fractured family featured in The Gifted. Moyer plays Reed Strucker, a government employee caught in a delimma when his kids' mutant genes come to fruition. It's a far cry from his vampire days but a welcome challenge since he's an everyman in this instance trying to weather a supernatural situation. Moyer's real-life wife, Anna Paquin, played Rogue in Singer's films but Moyer insists that he's happy his character's not present in the comics.
Likewise, Acker, who appeared in Marvel's The Shield, embraces the fact that typical suburban mom Caitlin only becomes a warrior when protecting her kids. It's quite evident that both actors were powerful presences on their respective series. They seek to put the same energy into The Gifted even if their characters have no powers.
However, they're only two of several accomplished actors from other critically acclaimed genre shows who star in The Gifted. Jamie Chung and Natalie Lind played recurring roles in Gotham, and Elena Satine appeared in Twin Peaks. They all held impressive resumes prior to their turns in The Gifted which points to the fact that the whole cast is a formidable team.
It doesn't take Jean Grey-level telepathy to know that The Gifted's actors are a capable league of artists.
