MCU: 10 Worst Netflix Characters
4. Alexandra Reid - The Defenders
It's terrible that the one and only Sigourney Weaver ended up being a disappointing addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but has to be said that it is not the Hollywood legend's fault. In fact, Weaver does her utmost to lift her character, Alexandra, beyond the weak material and imbue her with some humanity. When Alexandra does work, it's all thanks to Weaver.
However, the problem is that the character so rarely comes off. Due to the truncated episode count of The Defenders, which is already stuffed with superhero team-up antics. Alexandra has precious little room to grow and so her potentially tragic storyline never really hits home. Of course, the nebulous nature of the Hand once again keeps the villain from soaring.
The worst decision The Defenders made in terms of Alexandra is to kill her off at the end of episode 6, leaving Elektra in charge of the Hand. Apart from being a tired "shock twist" at this point - it was the third Marvel-Netflix show in a row to kill its villain halfway through - it's just mindbogglingly stupid to deny us more of Weaver in the MCU.
