MCU: Falcon & Winter Soldier Super Bowl Trailer Released
Big Game teaser showed off Zemo's new headwear, the Flag Smashers and more...
The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events in the world, and movie studios pay ridiculous amounts of money to air teasers during the big game.
As expected, Marvel Studios got in on the action again this year, debuting a new trailer for the second series coming to Disney+, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier.
Opening with the two titular heroes attending something of a couple’s counselling session, the trailer went on to balance new footage with that which has been shown before. Possibly the most intriguing part of the trailer was Zemo’s voiceover. The character hasn’t been seen since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, with him now promising that his work will not go unfinished.
After the death of his family in Sokovia, Zemo vowed to wipe out the Avengers, with his grudge now being directed towards Sam and Bucky. Sunday's teaser also gave us another look at the character's iconic purple mask, as well as the Flag Smashers. Flag Smasher was originally a supervillain in the comics, but the character's namesake has been applied to an anti-government group in the upcoming MCU series.
There was also the best look yet at Emily VanCamp's Sharon Carter, helping out the titular duo and absolutely kicking ass, as well as a glimpse of Erin Kellyman's character thought to be Songbird. Still absent however, was Georges St. Pierre's Batroc, who audiences last saw in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
One of the biggest questions going into the series surrounds the legacy of Captain America’s shield. Who will ultimately wield the weapon and take on the mantle for the future of the MCU? This trailer offered very little in the way of answers, as no fewer than three characters can be seen holding the red, white, and blue vibranium disc.
The series is now confirmed to be coming to Disney+ on 19th March, giving fans little to no time to recover from what is sure to be a mind-blowing WandaVision finale. We’re only a few weeks in, but already 2021 is proving to be very important year for the MCU.
