MCU What If...? - 9 Biggest Takeaways From Episode 2
3. The Peter Quill Tease
With T’Challa taking the role of Star Lord for this episode, it meant that Peter Quill never left Earth, and never helped to form the Guardians of the Galaxy. So good was the episode however, that there wasn’t a single thought spared as to how this affected him, until the very end.
The Watcher briefly shifted focus at the chapter’s conclusion back to Missouri, where Peter Quill was listening to his Awesome Mix, and mopping the floor at a Dairy Queen. Obviously, this universe wasn’t as kind to Peter as the main MCU continuity, however that could all change.
In what was almost a sting at the end of the episode, Ego found Peter himself, clearly still looking to put into practice his Expansion plan. As Uatu told it, this could spell the end of the universe, but is a story for another time.
This is certainly going to be another episode either later in the season or the already confirmed season two. It’s hard to imagine Marvel Studios would bring back Kurt Russell for such a small role, so could we be seeing Peter Quill turn evil some point soon?
