How I Met Your Mother: 5 Great Things From The 200th Episode

4. The Callbacks

How I Met has always been effective at calling back to old jokes or running gags and the 200th episode was no exception. It was littered with references to the past as it brought audiences up to speed on The Mother's story. Perhaps the best one was discovering The Mother not only had a run in with Mitch, The Naked Man, but she was the very first exception to his "2 out of 3" rule. There were other callbacks which were equally as notable, such as Ted and Barney's brief run as bartenders where they renamed the bar Puzzles and Ted's corny Shellfish joke. These moments served not only as levity for an emotion filled and somewhat depressing episode, but reminders of the past and what had come before. Even through its ups and downs, How I Met has been mostly consistent with its history (though whoever thought St. Patrick's Day was in April needs to check a calendar) so it was very pleasing for long time fans to see that amount of callbacks within the story.
