How I Met Your Mother Ending: 10 Past Faults It Must Avoid

10. Stay On Target

Consider that HIMYM began as the story of Ted telling his children the achingly long story of how he met their mother. Yes, the jokes have been made, including the daughter we now know as Penny telling Ted that it feels like he has been talking for a year in the season two premiere. The fans have complained, even the cast have complained, just meet the blasted mother already, Ted! Indeed, these final episodes need to stay on target. While it's fair to conclude the season-long wedding of Barney and Robin the right way, and no one will argue against that, creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas absolutely need to stay on target for the final TV hours of Ted Mosby and his still un-named bride. While this show began as Ted's story, later seasons have made that hard to believe. Ever since season seven, when the Barney and Robin relationship began to truly become a reality, Ted has been struggling to gain attention his own series. The quest in the series finale is simple. While there are bound to be variations on what we believe, and at what point exactly Ted will officially meet the mother at the infamous Farhampton train station, your end goal is not a difficult one to reach. Ted meets the mother, and finally purges the downward slope he's been on since season 8 began. Whatever you do, just please, stay on target.
