How I Met Your Mother Ending: 10 Past Faults It Must Avoid
9. Don't Touch The Robin Conspiracy
Robin Scherbatsky is an interesting character. Guns, hockey and scotch are just a few of the things that the former Robin Sparkles enjoys. And despite the writing team essentially taking all the things I love about Robin and making them into things I hate in the last two seasons, the gal from Canada is still one of the most fascinating characters in recent TV history. It's no surprise, then, that the initial thought amongst HIMYM fans was that she would turn out to be the mother. Even years later, when it started to become increasingly obvious that Robin was never intended to be the mother of Ted's children, these fans persisted. They offered up numerous conspiracy theories, including Robin becoming the stepmom of the children after Ted and the-then unknown mother divorced. As of now, in the season-long wedding of Barney and Robin, the theories still remain. They are a committed bunch, that's for sure. But as the ones in charge of the final hours of HIMYM, after the episode "Sunrise" made about as close to a 100% confirmation that Robin is not the mother as you can get, I urge you. Do not enter the Robin zone again. It's a dangerous place, and you've taken great lengths with many episodes to escape. The Robin relationship with Ted is fraught with loopholes and quirky time travel gimmicks, along with death and divorce. Just leave it alone. For the love of God. Leave it alone.
