Moon Knight Trailer Breakdown: 11 Things You Must See
2. Khonshu In The Flesh
Hurtling down the halls, a huge figure obscured by the dark stumbles towards Marc at a terrifying velocity. Featuring a huge bird skull for a head and equipped with a moon staff, the MCU has officially introduced Khonshu into Phase 4. The trailer seemed to display a horrifying depiction of the character, taking obvious inspiration from the multiple appearances shown through the Moon Knight comic runs.
Marc Spector is the chosen avatar of the ancient Egyptian deity of the moon and vengeance known as Khonshu. Based on the real-life historical Egyptian figurehead, 'Khonsu', the god haunts Marc by perpetually making him question his already crumbling sanity. Enlisted originally as a protector of travellers in the night, Moon Knight hits the streets in the name of Khonshu to build up fear and make blood sacrifices to the ancient deity.
What can you expect from this huge being? Well other than continuously testing Marc on his loyalty, Khonshu has resurrected Moon Knight in circumstances which would usually prove fatal. Khonshu also decides to not appear to anyone but Marc, making the soldier’s plea for help seem like another delusion formed from the trauma.
Bearing down on Marc as a heavy burden, we can expect to see the god pestering his appointed for different sacrifices, morally ambiguous tasks and constant vengeance.
