Only Fools And Horses: Ranking All The Main Characters From Worst To Best

8. Cassandra Trotter

Only fools and horses
BBC

Career-minded Cassandra was introduced in the first episode of Series 6. In the three years since the last series, under Margaret Thatcher, London was now a hub for the Stock Market. This prosperity introduced a new subculture in Britain, the yuppie (a young and up and comer). In this episode, Del and Rodney are wearing suits, and the younger brother is serious in his attempt of making something of himself.

Whilst attending a night course at a local college, Rodney meets Cassandra, a middle-class bank worker. They hit it off immediately, and get married by the end of the series.

Cassandra, wonderfully portrayed by Gwyneth Strong, is the catalyst for the change in Rodney’s character. Her legitimate career and more logical approach to life act as a counterbalance to the chaotic Del. Introducing Cassandra as a strong female character, the show was able to explore more aspects of the modern family.

Rodney and Cassandra’s marital problems dominated storylines for the following few years, but they reunited and made a good on-screen couple. The entire series ended on a high after the couple were finally able to conceive a baby girl after many years of unsuccessful attempts.
