2. Ups: Character Arcs
The writing this season is great with satisfying foreshadowing, witty dialogue and interesting character arcs. Many of the character's roles and allegiances are different by season's end.
We get to delve deeper into Marty's past and see what motivates him to do what he does.We see Wendy re-ignite her ambition for power as well as the lengths she will go to to protect and ultimately betray her brother, Ben. His addition to the cast is a substantial one as the consequences of his actions have huge ripple effects.
Ben was the one that saw Marty kidnapped and also the person who warned Ruth about the cartel hit. His arrival caused more drama in an already tense situation with Marty and Wendy and his death was the nail in the coffin for their partnership with Ruth. It was fascinating to see his mood change as the season went on and he discovered more and more of the truth.
Ruth's journey shows us leadership in her manager role, vulnerability after being attacked, her loving side with Ben, and her anger after he died.
The script does a great job of allowing everyone to grow naturally in their role while still being woven naturally into the overall narrative.
