The often slightly delusional Tom Haverford was a scene stealer, particularly in the earlier seasons of the series. Ansari created and starred in Master of None shortly after Parks and Recreation’s finale in 2015. Master of None’s 2 seasons were hugely successful on Netflix, earning multiple awards and nominations. Ansari portrays Dev Shah, a 30 something actor best known for his work on a Go-Gurt commercial.

Also in 2015, Ansari wrote Modern Romance: An Investigation, with sociologist Eric Klinenberg. The book serves as a comedic study of modern dating.

In January 2018, was accused of sexual misconduct in an article for Babe.net by Katie Way. Ansari disputed the misconduct accusation, claiming the event was entirely consensual with various commentators and members of the public supporting his claim. Others criticised Ansari heavily and considered the incident misogynistic on his part.

In the wake of the accusation, Ansari took a year out and disappeared from the public eye. He returned in February 2019 with the stand-up comedy tour, The Road to Nowhere. He followed it up in July with the comedy special, Aziz Ansari: Right Now.
