4. Countess Elizabeth Bathory

Public DomainWe've had Dracula as a somewhat unseen primary antagonist thus far, having stolen away Mina and triggering the plot of the first season. So why not include the other prominent vampire myth? Countess Bathory was a Hungarian countess during the late 16th and early 17th century who was imprisoned for murdering hundreds of young girls and supposedly bathing in and drinking their blood. Comparable to the legend of Vlad The Impaler, on whom Dracula was based, Bathory would make another fantastic antagonist to the group to have to deal with. Whether she's allied with Dracula or possibly some sort of rivals (warring vampire clans could make things more interesting) she'd definitely fit in with the gothic sex appeal the show has going for it. Having played her once in the film Bathory: Countess Of Blood, we'd have Anna Friel reprise the role here in the series, perhaps playing her as some sort of vampiric royalty.
