Ranking Every Episode From Love, Death And Robots
3. When The Yoghurt Took Over
The shortest episode of the season at just six minutes, When the Yoghurt Took Over is a story, as the title describes, about how sentient yoghurt took over the planet. It is quirky and unique but manages to be both clever and funny as well as surprisingly engrossing. What's worthy of praise is how much they manage to cram into such a short runtime.
The pacing is quick with no scene lasting more than a couple seconds contrasting against the methodically deliberate voiceover narration. The animation is cute and minimalistic but that only adds to the short's odd and bouncy tone. It doesn't just try to be humorous though, When the Yoghurt Took Over tackles some larger themes which admittedly aren't overly fleshed out but it shows that the short isn't just trying to be amusing and silly.
When the Yoghurt Took Over ends at the perfect time making you want more. It may be the most whacky concept of the series but it entertains and is well constructed to the point that it stands as one of the very best.
