Ranking Every HBO Drama Series From Worst To Best
25. Tell Me You Love Me
HBO is the home of adult entertainment, and it’s yet to get a great deal more adult than 2007’s Tell Me You Love Me. This uniquely sex-focussed show was a one-and-done deal, and makes for some challenging viewing, particularly should you have the misfortune to find yourself sat in front of the TV next to your parents.
It depicts three couples, each experiencing their own issues with sex and intimacy. The couples take turns visiting a therapist, who in turn finds herself struggling in her physical relationship with her own husband.
It’s a mature and daring look at problems a great many viewers will no doubt have experienced, and the acting is great across the board. Without sounding prudish, though, sometimes enough sex chat is enough.
It’s also genuinely shocking at times, particularly an intimate scene involving Adam Scott of Parks & Recreation fame. There’s nothing tacky or exploitative about Tell Me You Love Me - it’s a focussed and purposeful show but it can end up feeling a little one note.
