Ranking Every Season Of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia From Worst To Best
5. Season 8
Even after being the first season cut down to ten episodes, nothing stopped Season 8 from delivering quality Sunny to fans.
Only two episodes fall flat when compared to the rest. "Pop-Pop: The Final Solution" and "Charlie's Mom Has Cancer" are somewhat forgettable episodes that get lost in the mix alongside the rest of the season. It's also quite ironic that "Charlie's Mom Has Cancer," a rehash of "Charlie Has Cancer," airs in the same season the show makes fun of itself for using old jokes in "The Gang Recycles Their Trash."
On the other side, "The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre" is a fantastic horror themed episode that showcases the McPoyle family high on bath salts. "Charlie and Dee Find Love" explores Charlie and the Waitress' "relationship" and features some of the best "smart Charlie" moments the show has to offer.
"The Gang Gets Analyzed" showcases how delusional the entire gang is while in therapy. The highlight coming from Frank, as he becomes "unzipped" and remembers his first kiss with a no lipped girl who thought she was a spaceman with a plastic bag for a helmet. It's scenarios just like that that make Sunny the absolute wonder that it is.
The highlight of the season comes from its season finale, "Reynolds vs. Reynolds: The Cereal Defense." Mac's tirade about the world's greatest scientists being "bitches" as he tries to disprove evolution is up there as one of Mac's greatest moments.
Season 8 is an all-around joy, and while it may have two weak episodes, the rest of the season more than makes up for it.
