Ranking All 25 The Simpsons Season Finales

14. The Yellow Badge Of Cowardage

Who Shot Mr Burns
Fox

Season: 25

The most recent season finale of the show, season twenty-five's The Yellow Badge of Cowardage features Bart cheating to win a race Milhouse has prepared intensively for. After Milhouse contracts amnesia during the race, Bart has multiple chances to let slip what happened (bullies beat him and Bart took advantage), yet fails to do so, taking the credit instead.

Amnesia stories are generally a tired cliche, but strangely enough for a show with over 500 episodes, The Simpsons hasn't featured all that many of them (Mr. Burns losing his memory being the one that really stands out). With that in mind, The Yellow Badge of Cowardage turns out to be a better season finale than it should be.

Maybe the key reason (as with many of the newer Simpsons episodes that have shown improvement) is that in the end, there's a bit of a moral lesson, and Bart does the right thing, managing to get Milhouse credit for being a hero towards the end of the episode.
