Closing a season with a Lisa episode is always a bit of a stretch. The very best Lisa episodes can actually be quite good, but most tend to be hit and miss.
The show learned this the hard way in season nineteen, when it opted to break out a recycled plot and shoehorn Lisa into it with All About Lisa. The episode saw Lisa become Krusty's sidekick, where she quickly grew in popularity until she overshadowed him.
Sound familiar? It's pretty much the time Bart became the "I didn't do it kid" only minus the originality, and popularity of Bart at the time.
A cameo by Drew Carey didn't add much to the "special" factor of this finale, and overall, it came off as a regular episode that itself was a retread - though having Sideshow Mel serve as narrator for the outing was something of an inspired move.
