Secret Invasion Episode 1 Review - 7 Ups & 3 Downs

4. Up - Strong New Characters

Nick Fury Secret Invasion
Marvel Studios

Joining the old guard of returning MCU faces in Secret Invasion is the new blood that is still so important in every project. Yes, established characters are great, but the MCU needs to bring in newbies to earn that same love.

Emilia Clarke's G'iah enjoyed the most development as a central part of the story. Her defection back to her dad's side could ultimately be Nick Fury's biggest advantage in the toughest fight of his life. Similarly, Olivia Colman only appeared in a handful of scenes, but made a strong impact as either a strong ally or worthy adversary.

Arguably the strongest new face is that of Kingsley Ben-Adir's villain. Though his time on screen has been fleeting so far, Gravik has proven himself a villain with the potential to be incredibly terrifying, ruthless, and with a genuinely strong motivation for doing what he is doing.
