She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Four Review - 7 Ups & 1 Down

2. Up - Very Sex Positive

Last year, Eternals made headlines for including the MCU’s first ever sex scene. When it actually came to it, the scene was nothing more than Ikaris and Sersi’s awkward embrace in the middle of a painfully long and boring look into their history.

She-Hulk however, particularly with episode four, has shown that the Marvel Cinematic Universe can be wonderfully sex positive. The first few episodes hinted at Jen’s sex life, but this was the first real look into it.

This show may be about a woman who can transform into a 6’7” hulk, but it is surprisingly relatable. Battling the different sides to a personality, with maybe some being more liked than others, balancing work life and social life, and dating in your 30s have all been brought to the table, with a fresh injection of humour. In particular, the latter seems to be very important to the show.

Director Kat Coiro and writer Jessica Gao told Nerdist that they made sure She-Hulk comes across as sex positive, as it’s a normal part of life, it’s healthy, and there shouldn’t be any kind of taboo attached to it. That’s why it was so great to see Jen enjoying herself as She-Hulk, having a good time without any judgements.
