The Simpsons: 20 Most Shocking Moments Ever

17. Death Of Shary Bobbins - "Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious" (8.13)

With an episode title that's both clever and ridiculous, season eight's thirteenth Simpsons outing is often regarded as one of the best episodes, in which Shary Bobbins - a play on Mary Poppins - comes to save the Simpson family... from themselves. Her mission completed, she dons her umbrella and flies skywards, as the family ponder whether or not they'll ever see her again. "I'm sure we will," laments Homer, as poor Shary is sucked into a jet engine and is incinerated. Erk.
