It's one thing to feature Super alumnus of years gone by in Smallville, but Season 5 of the show saw Smallville venture to a galaxy far, far away from one of its guest stars.

In the 'Thirst' episode, the legendary Carrie Fisher portrayed Pauline Kahn, the no-nonsense, bullish editor of The Daily Planet.

Pauline is introduced when Chloe is trying to land herself a gig with the Planet. Despite initially turning down Chloe, Kahn would offer her one opportunity to impress. Chloe would take this opportunity and deliver a story about a gang of vampires causing chaos at Metropolis University. Again though, Pauline played the grizzled old veteran, as she mercilessly shot down this pitch as nothing more than amateurish and nowhere near the standard required to write for such an established, respected publication.

Proving that she wasn't a total ass, Pauline would eventually see enough in Chloe to give her a job with The Daily Planet - although fans couldn't help but think that there was so much more legs left in the Pauline Kahn character to see her be more than just a one-and-done character.
