4. Blue Angel - Billy Valentine & The Forest Rangers
The second original song on the list by The Forest Rangers in the form of the heart-wrenching ballad Blue Angel.
The Forest Rangers themselves have gone on to say that they would be nothing without the voices of Katey Sagal and Billy Valentine, and it's not hard to see why with this offering from the vocalist. Featured way back in episode 6 of Season 1, it didn't really come to the forefront of people's minds until later in the series, and has now gone on to be included in The Forest Rangers debut album Land Ho!
A perfect balance of songwriting, emotion, and storytelling, this would set the benchmark for Forest Rangers original songs in the series, and although there are only a few, this is the first in a very strong lineup of original material from the band.
When listening to the song back it was the only track I couldn't place from the show. Usually listening to these songs brings back memories of a specific scene or moment, but this one I just couldn't recall at all, how glad am I that I purchased the soundtrack and didn't miss out on re-hearing this supreme ballad once more.
