South Park: Ranking Every Season From Worst To Best
7. Season 7 (2003)
Season 7 starts with, of all things, a taco that poops ice cream. That says everything you need to know about the trademark South Park zaniness that pervades it. Parker has said that "crab people" was always a copout that the writing team threw around as a way out of a sticky plot situation, and it would be resoundingly panned if it appeared in any other series, but when they used it in South Park Is Gay, it became iconic.
Meanwhile, All About the Mormons set the standard for South Park's critique of religion. But Season 7's strength lies in Cartman's standout appearances. The three episodes in which he stars - Fat Butt and Pancake Head, Casa Bonita, and Christian Rock Hard - all showcase different aspects of his sociopathic, unhinged personality. We meet Hennifer Lopez aka Mitch Conner aka Cartman's Right Hand in the show's wackiest episode ever. Casa Bonita is the earliest and best example of the Cartman-Butters dynamic. And Christian Rock Hard features Cartman as singer, a role he's come to embrace more fully as the show has gone on but which he aces as he, Token, and Butters convert pop songs into Jesus love.
Season 7 isn't without its mundane moments; Grey Dawn and Red Man's Greed lack a strong story and leave aside too many great characters. But Cartman puts the show on his back and carries the season well into the top half of the rankings.
Best Episode: Casa Bonita
Worst Episode: Red Man's Greed
