Han Mi-nyeo is a remarkably difficult person to like. Shrill, mean, arrogant and self serving, she ticks nearly all the boxes of the other deplorables on this list whilst piling a migraine inducing screech onto the rotten pile.

Mi-nyeo quickly allies herself with Deok-su in a bid for protection, sealing the deal with a profoundly uncomfortable looking sexual tryst in the toilets, and swans around the arenas with a smugness that could put Donald Trump to shame. Once Deok-su tosses her to one side, however, the audience quickly learns the meaning of that tired old trope of a woman scorned.

Finding herself without allies, Mi-nyeo proves herself to be as self sufficient as she is self serving, waiting until the opportune moment to grab hold of her former ‘lover’, and drop him off a bridge to their mutual death. Everything Han Mi-nyeo does in the games may look awful, but it's all in the name of survival and, whilst her sacrifice may save the lives of those who remain, it's more than likely that her motives are closer aligned to an admirable level of spite.
