Star Trek: 6 Romulans Who Would Have Hated Unification (And 6 Who Wouldn't)
11. Romulan Commander (Enterprise Incident)

The third season of Star Trek would see the Romulans return in force.
The plot of The Enterprise Incident is as wild as you would expect from The Original Series' final year and it introduces audiences to the memorable Romulan Commander.
As the first female captain of a starship in the franchise, this was a bold move for the time. Even having Uhura sitting in the command chair of the Enterprise was seen as a bit too far and would have to wait until The Animated Series.
The placement of Joanne Linville's captain alongside Spock is our first opportunity to see the two linked races face to face. She, of course, finds him fascinating. Spock has the commander enwrapped and under his logical spell straight away. He couldn't be lying could he?
As for swaying towards wanting unification, the commander would and for the disappointing way in which Linville's character is written. Fans would expect the commander to have gained respect, merit and experience to make her way up the chain of command but is then swayed in her beliefs on one day by a single Vulcan. Ok, it is Spock, but this doesn't ring true for someone in the service of the Empire.
