Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best

11. Kassidy Yates

Star Trek Deep Space Nine
CBS

A freighter Captain and a woman who is very much able to hold her own in any situation, Kassidy Yates was introduced as a love interest for Sisko toward the end of the third season. They quickly hit it off and when she returns for the fourth season, it's clear that they're getting very close.

And then she turns out to be running supplies to the Maquis, which puts a damper on things. However, she owns it and she endures her confinement, going so far as to hold a candle for Sisko while she is away.

She returns to the Station as Sisko is struggling with visions plaguing him. While she respects what he is going through, she and Jake feel he must be saved rather than allowed to die if these visions continue. She is unrepentant, certain that in saving Ben she has made the right decision.

While he initially struggles with the depth of their relationship, they quickly move forward and begin living together. However it is their marriage that would become the biggest challenge to their strength. Sisko is not simply a man that she is marrying - he is the Emissary, and by marrying him she is effectively becoming the wife of the most revered figure in Bajoran culture.

She is open about it, though she is unable to reconcile when he fears the Prophets are against the union. Though they do marry, she knows the warnings to be true as she is left alone, with Ben taken by the Prophets, to care for their unborn baby.

Her business is going strong in Picard, a testament to the strength of this woman.
