Star Trek Discovery: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'That Hope Is You'

Something we've known since the first teaser trailer from all the way back in 2019 was that Star Trek: Discovery season three would feature returning legacy aliens from 90s-era Star Trek. What we didn't know was that most of them would explode in a fight scene before we could get a good look at them.

While the Mercantile is heavily populated with Andorians and Orions (and any number of unidentified background aliens), the goon squad that pursues Michael and Book across Hima includes a Tellarite and a barely visible Cardassian. "That Hope is You" also notably includes the first appearance of a Lurian other than Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Morn, both at the Mercantile and during the portable transporter chase.

Oh, and there's also aforementioned return of the Betelgeusians from Star Trek: The Motion Picture in the form of Cosmo... who also explodes in this episode.
