Star Trek: Everything We Know About Section 31 (The Movie)

6. May Contain Misfits

It's a bit rich for Starfleet Command to be calling anyone a 'misfit,' but that was rather besides the more meta point of the mock content warning at the start of the Section 31 teaser trailer. This is not your regularly scheduled Star Trek programming, and that begins with the characters. Don't be fooled, however. "Misfits have merit," as Georgiou herself said to a certain new recruit in Point of Light.

Scene 65 Alpha, take two, marker! Clapperboard in hand, Michelle Yeoh fronted the announcement that Section 31 (the movie) was "off to the races" on 30 January this year. Seven faces of the cast were revealed, including the now familiar Kacey Rohl. Lovely headshots, great actors, though nothing yet about their roles.

By SDCC in July, we learnt more about the "rag tag" bunch. As one of the faces, Sam Richardson, put it to Josh Horowitz, they are six of "an existing [Section 31] team who've maybe done a few missions before," plus, of course, Rachel Garrett as "newest member" — the "official from Starfleet". They're all then joined by the one person trying to 'fit in' across universes and time.

Omari Hardwick plays 'Alak Sahar,' "overseer of this rogue motley crew," as the actor told Variety. Humberly González is the unnamed Deltan spotted in the trailer. Robert Kazinsky is the suited guy charging at the camera. Sven Ruygrok is the Vulcan, maybe Romulan, maybe a precocious Mintakan southerner, who knows!

Finally, we have James Hiroyuki Liao who gave absolutely nothing away in an interview with ScreenRant except that his character is "a broken soul" and has "hurt people". And that's not to forget the shapeshifter somewhere in the room...
