Star Trek: Picard - 7 Ups & 2 Downs From Stardust City Rag

2. This Scene Alone

Picard Seven of Nine
CBS

When Star Trek: Picard finishes we're going to have years of debating whether or not it was a worthy addition to the canon. Being such a departure from the show we hold so dear it's destined to divide fans across the spectrum, and will likely have words like "misunderstood" or "misguided" hanging around its neck. That said though, wherever you end up in that particular conversation, we're all going to agree that it was worth it all for this one, small scene.

Taking her leave from her new crewmates, Seven stops to ask Picard a question. She drops the tough-girl persona, and plays the part almost identically to how she portrayed it in Voyager. Everything, from the delivery of her lines, the pronunciation of her words, and the skittish hesitation to meet his gaze, is perfectly done.

After they brought you back from your time in the Collective. Do you honestly feel that you regained your humanity?... Yes.All of it?... No.

She steps onto the transporter pad as the theme from Star Trek: Voyager rises in the background, and this show's most iconic moment (and probably one of the best scenes in any Trek show ever) is born.
