Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Broken Pieces'

Narissa (who's been going around shooting XBs) directs her men to abandon the Artifact and board the numerous Romulan ships that are orbiting the cube.

These Romulan ships first appeared in "The End is the Beginning" and look a bit like the Valdore-type Romulan warbirds seen in Star Trek Nemesis, but are a brand new design. They warp away to the coordinates of Soji's homeworld, but not before the XBs attack Narissa. It would seem Narissa was able to beam away, but maybe one of the XBs was able to inject her with some Borg nanoprobes... we'll see.

The establishing shot of the Romulan (maybe Zhat Vash) ships around the newly regenerated Artifact also shows a Borg sphere kind of peeking out from inside the cube. The Borg cube attacking Earth in Star Trek: First Contact also had a sphere embedded in it which acted as a lifeboat when that cube was destroyed. Borg spheres later appeared as independent ships in Star Trek: Voyager, first appearing in the episode "Drone".
