Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Broken Pieces'
1. Transwarp Tunnel Vision
During a quiet moment in the La Sirena's cockpit, Picard tells Rios about his time as a young ensign aboard the USS Reliant. While it wasn't originally part of his backstory as aired, Picard's history on the Reliant was included in the blu-ray release of Star Trek: The Next Generation's second season extended episode "The Measure of a Man" – an episode that has informed much of Star Trek: Picard's first season. It's not the same ship, but a USS Reliant was Khan's stolen ride in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
Picard talks about Captain Vandermeer who previously served as first officer to Marta Batanides. Batanides was Picard’s Starfleet Academy classmate in the TNG episode "Tapestry". For his part, Picard knew Vandermeer only slightly, but says he was a good man, one of the best that Starfleet had to offer.
As Soji takes the La Sirena into the Borg transwarp corridor, she looks to the broken compass Kestra gave her in last week's episode, "Nepenthe". The La Sirena heads toward the Star Trek: Picard two-part season finale and Narek (cheeky bugger) decloaks his Snakehead and follows them in.
