Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Broken Pieces'

Picard Seven Of Nine Borg Sphere

All the talk about the synth ban brings Soji's memories to the surface and she puts up a forcefield around the cockpit of the La Sirena. She intends to pilot the ship to the synth homeworld instead of Deep Space 12 and all that backup Admiral Clancy was gonna send them.

Soji is working on subspace tunneling which she learned about on the Borg Artifact.

According to Soji, there's a Borg transwarp node about nine hours away. Transwarp corridors were the primary mode of travel the Borg used to reach distant parts of the galaxy, established in the TNG episode "Descent". The USS Voyager later destroyed the Borg's transwarp hub in the Star Trek: Voyager series finale "Endgame", but apparently these corridors are still around.

Rios chastises Soji for failing to reinforce the La Sirena's structural integrity field, establish a chroniton field, or pay attention to the gravimetric shear. The structural integrity field, first established in Star Trek: The Next Generation (and elaborated on in the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual), is a series of forcefields that keep the various Starfleet vessels from falling apart in space. Chroniton fields were established in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Shattered" as projections (appropriately enough) used to aid in Borg ships' travel through transwarp corridors. And gravimetric shear was encountered in DS9's "Behind the Lines" and Voyager's "Drone" (among other episodes) and is basically space turbulence.
