Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Stardust City Rag'

We finally catch up with Bruce Maddox on Freecloud who, according to Bjayzl, has looked better. He's also looked a lot different. Maddox is played by John Ales in "Stardust City Rag", but was played by Brian Brophy in the character's only previous appearance, "The Measure of a Man". If you haven't seen "The Measure of a Man", turn off WhatCulture and go watch it. And then watch it again.

In that classic Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, Commander Bruce Maddox unsympathetically wants custody of Data so he can disassemble and reverse engineer the android officer. Of course Maddox learns to respect Data and, though we didn't see Maddox again, the android kept in communication with the cyberneticist. TNG's "Data's Day" is a day-in-the-life-of Data episode, narrated as a letter to Maddox at the Daystrom Institute

The Daystrom Institute is where Maddox and Agnes Jurati worked together to create Dahj and Soji, apparently fell in love, and baked cookies.
