Star Trek: Voyager - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best

Poor old ensign Kim. While Garrett Wang was cheerfully pleasant as the fresh-faced ensign, the show never really found much for him to do, apart from mope over lost love and fall for the wrong person every time. He's the perpetual junior officer and despite his years of hard work, never makes it to lieutenant (even when his best bud Tom Paris was reduced in rank).

He did have a few stand-out episodes, however, 'Nightingale' shows that he did have the chops to be taken more seriously and the episode was originally intended to be the last for the character before a last minute change. His friendship with Tom Paris is one of his defining features and is pushed to the limit in 'The Chute', where he has to risk life and limb to protect his friend.

There should have been more Harry Kim, but he was a decent addition to the show.
