Star Trek: Voyager - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best

7. Tom Paris

Star Trek Voyager
CBS

Reckless rogue and ace-pilot Tom Paris (or Nick Locarno to those of you who refuse to let go), had a tough time of it before being recruited personally by Captain Janeway. Serving in a prison camp for his role in the accidental death of three other officers, Tom had successfully covered up the pilot error that led to it, but confessed to it later on.

At the start of the show, one would be forgiven for thinking that Tom Paris would be closer to our principal character, as the first episode of Voyager focuses heavily on him, but as time goes on he merges more into the ensemble. A joker, a fantasy writer and a 20th Century Earth fanboy, Tom was an easily likeable character.

He was one of the few characters to change rank over the course of the show, being demoted after his reckless passion endangered a planet made entirely of water in 'Thirty Days', which was a missed opportunity of the writers to shift Tom over to sickbay full time and don a blue uniform. Would've been nice.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
