Star Trek: Voyager - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best

12. Kes

Star Trek Voyager
Paramount

Kes was the better idea than to introduce a Delta native than Neelix was, with wide eyes, bright aptitude and a charming demeanour. Kes would integrate well to the crew, becoming the Doctor's assistant, Tuvok's pupil and Janeway's confidant, but her time was cut short when the producers felt they needed to lose a crew member to gain Seven of Nine at the end of the third season.

Kes would briefly return in the sixth season, where she had aged to reflect the fast-growing nature of her species and her psychic powers had increased exponentially to match her anger. Kes features fairly low on the list mainly because of the wasted potential for her character. The way her species aged could well have served as a narrative comparison for Voyager's journey itself. If they needed to lose someone, why not lose Neelix?

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
