Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 11 - 5 Ups & 2 Downs From "Shattered"

The Time Has Come...Execute Order 66.

Order 66 has come to Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

The now iconic command from Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith caused the clones to each turn on their Jedi masters. It led to the deaths of all of the Jedi save for Obi-Wan and Yoda (though the total number tends to shift when the writers want to introduce new characters like Kanan Jarrus), and helped transition the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire.

Set after Maul's capture on Mandalore, Shattered is set almost entirely on Ashoka's ship as she and her clones fly back to Coruscant with the prisoner. However, while on the ship, Palpatine executes Order 66 and the Clone start to turn. Ashoka has to turn to Maul for help as she fights for her life and tries to save her friends, if she can.

After a disappointing middle story arc, Clone Wars Season 7 is set to end with one of its best ever. Both of the previous episodes, Old Friends, Not Forgotten and The Phantom Apprentice, have raised both the bar and the stakes, and Shattered manages to match them both, if not exceed them.

Here are five ups and two downs from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Shattered.

7. Down - Sounds Of Revenge Of The Sith

As Revenge of the Sith is happening, Ashoka experiences a clairaudient moment, during which she hears Anakin turn on Mace Windu, and the Jedi, in favour of Palpatine. This moment in Revenge of the Sith signifies the true transition from Anakin Skywalker to Darth Vader.

However, the moment feels out of place for Clone Wars, because it's not from Clone Wars. The dialogue sounds like archive sound from Revenge of the Sith, with the actors from the film speaking rather than the voice actors from Clone Wars.

It also doesn't help that this particular scene has been used to create countless internet memes. The moment should be taken seriously, but the cultural significance of the Revenge of the Sith scene lessens its impact.
