Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 12 - 4 Ups & 3 Downs From "Victory And Death"

1. Up - Darth Vader

Star Wars Clone Wars
Lucasfilm

After the clones' funeral, Ahsoka discards her lightsaber in yet another pa-Rey-lel to The Rise of Skywalker. The final scene, set later when the Empire has established itself, shows the planet where Ahsoka and Rex crash landed. A familiar figure walks across the scene, now covered in snow and resembling the iconic original trilogy planet Hoth. We hear his iconic heavy breathing with each step.

Darth Vader lifts the lightsaber, which, as Anakin Skywalker, he gave to Ahsoka a few episodes earlier. He ignites it one last time before setting it back down. As the former Clone Wars hero walks away, we can see his reflection in the visor of one of the clone's helmets.

It's always nice to see Darth Vader, as long as he does not shout "NOOOOOOOO," so ending Clone Wars with him feels like the right decision. Not only that, but seeing his reflection in the helmet of the clone represents the Clone War itself: Everyone can see the clones clearly, but Palpatine has used the whole conflict to groom Anakin to become Vader. As the Sith Lord walks away from his past one last time, the story of Star Wars: The Clone Wars ends with Vader saying goodbye to Anakin Skywalker.
