Star Wars Rebels Season 3: 20 Easter Eggs & References You Need To See

The asteroid base where Maul lures Kanan and Ezra to in Holocrons of Fate, is another location based on an outpost featured in the Son of Dathomir comic series. Rebels has done a fine job of retaining its own identify while drawing on aspects from its sister show, The Clone Wars and here is no exception in addressing Maul’s history.

In Son of Dathomir, Maul and his Shadow Collective retreat to a Mandalorian outpost built into an asteroid, where they hold a captured Dooku and General Grievous. While trying to turn Dooku, Republic Forces consisting of Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, Aayla Secura and Tiplee begin their assault on the base, causing Maul to flee with Dooku in tow.

It’s a nice little feature that continues to tie together the wider Star Wars universe, it all its many formats.
