Stargate Atlantis Cast: Where Are They Now?
4. Torri Higginson
Torri Higginson took over the role of Elizabeth Weir from Jessica Stein, who had originated the role in Stargate SG-1. Higginson was a guest in SG-1 before moving with the rest of the expedition to Atlantis. There, the role was envisaged as being something similar to Don S. Davis's Hammond in SG-1, yet writer and showrunner Brad Wright had other plans.
He worked hard at expanding Weir's role - he wrote the episode Before I Sleep - and this allowed Weir to develop beyond what she had originally been intended to be. This led to problems down the line.
Once Brad Wright's role was reduced, so too was Higginson's. At the end of the third season, she was informed that she was being relegated to a recurring status. Rather than sign on for this, Higginson elected to leave the show. Her last appearance came as a surprise ending in Be All My Sins Remembered.
The character would return once more, played by Michelle Morgan, yet Higginson was at that point done with Stargate. She would go on to star on NCIS and Dark Matter, along with a career in theatre.
