Stargate: Every Series And Movie Ranked Worst To Best
18. Stargate SG-1: Season 1
Like almost all Star Trek, Stargate SG-1 was off to a rocky start as a new series. While popular, there was noted differences in quality between the show and the movie that it was following on from. They changed 'Ra's race' (which resemble the Asgard) into the serpentine Goa'uld, they couldn't afford the sleek CGI that allowed for the retractive helmets, so Teal'c was left wearing a large, clunky snake-hat.
The show also wasn't sure in what direction it should be heading, should it be Star Trek but with more guns? Should it be more grounded in reality? Ultimately, the cast and crew found their stride through this shaky first season, using most of the episodes to try and flesh out the largely hostile galaxy that the SGC now found itself in.
Stand-out episodes are 'Enigma' (to introduce the Tolan), 'Thor's Hammer' (bringing us both a taste of the Asgard and the Unas) and the excellent 'Singularity' and 'Solitudes', but there were more than a few misfires in there as well.
