Stargate: Every System Lord Ranked Worst To Best

3. Apophis

Apophis was, after Ra, the first real threat to Earth by the Goa'uld and the System Lords. He was the first to come through the Gate once it had been reopened, which in turn led to all of the battles, wars and adventures that followed.

He assumed control of the System Lords after the defeat of Ra, becoming all-powerful. However, this would not remain the case forever, as in-fighting (not to mention a little help from SG-1) ensured that his position was not secure.

Enraged with SG-1's attacks on him, he took two Ha'tac vessels to attack Earth. This backfired, as SG-1 were able to destroy them both, though he escaped. This escape destroyed his position among the System Lords and he was continually attacked by Sokar. He begged sanctuary on Earth, though they turned the body over to Sokar - who revived him.

Under the guise of Naonak, he began to grow in strength again, before he finally declared himself with a massive fleet, ready to regain his position. He killed Sokar and absorbed his fleet, later defeating Heru'ur as well. Then, again, SG-1 stepped in the way. Samantha Carter sent a Stargate, connected to a black hole, into a star - causing it to supernova and destroy Apophis's fleet.

His final defeat came when his ship, infested with Replicators, was crashed into the atmosphere of Delmak, his new base of operations.
