Stranger Things Season 3: 8 Biggest Questions After The Trailer
1. How Does The Upside Down Return?
What does Hawkins' new monster, the seemingly-infected people and Billy's new problem all have in common? They're all clearly related to the Upside Down. This, in itself, poses us with the biggest question of them all: how does the Upside Down once again become, well, right-side up?
Remember, the reason that so many unearthly threats were able to cross over into our world in the first place was because of the open gate in Hawkins - a gate that Eleven finally closed in the Season 2 finale when she forced the Mind Flayer back to where it came from. With the gate closed, you would assume that these characters could out their lives in peace, right? Wrong.
It's long been assumed that some terrible threat would unite the gang to fight against evil one more time, but now that we know it's once again directly related to the Upside Down, there's a question of how this new creature (or whatever caused it to form) manages to break through. The closing shot in Season 2 certainly suggested that the Mind Flayer was always watching, but did it come up with a new method of obliterating the wall between dimensions (perhaps with the rats)? If so, how will Eleven be able to stop the Upside Down from manifesting this time?
